Last day of classes!

So yesterday was the last day of classes and my last Prospect Ave. block party. For those of you who don't know it's pretty much where everyone at Ithaca comes down to this one street were a lot of seniors live and they party. It's the always on the last day of classes and it is always amazing to see so many people on one street. This year wasn't that big because they cops said they were going to not let it happen but they always say that and it always happens. The cops are always nice as long as you don't do stupid stuff. Any way it was a time to reflect and relax before finals start. Here are a few pictures from the day. IM me or E-mail me to see more pictures I have them online.

Took the pictures down, E-mail me if you want so see them.

Tell me what you think...crazy huh?

Urban riding...

I am getting more and more comfortable riding in traffic, at first I was reallys scared. Now on some of the back roads I keep up with or usually beat the cars to where they are going.

Got up at 11 am today and road my bike to Home Depot to grab a few last minute things for my Photo show. Which by the way is tonight so if your in the Ithaca area I better see you there tonight at 6 pm -8 pm. Shameless plug. Anyway, while there I realized I needed some sheetrock to patch a hole in my apartment wall, don't ask, so I looked around for some. I finally found it and luckily, there was a broken sheet that I knew I could get for a discount. So I found someone who works there and had him cut me a 2'X2' piece which was more then I needed. Once I got to my bike I realized I wouldn't be able to fit this thing into my back so I cut it down to about 1.5'X1 5’ piece. Needless to say, I looked pretty damn funny flying down the road with a huge piece of sheet rock sticking out the back of my backpack. I love riding.

Non stop!

Pretty sweet! I rode from my house down town all the way to the school with out stopping. The first time I rode to school a few weeks ago it I had to stop 6 times. So I can at least tell I am getting in shape!

My gear I ordered through bike and build should be in soon. Sorry about the lame posts!

Created a Blog

I created this blog today just so I could get it ready and talk a little bit about pre trip preparations, including training. I will be slowly updating this so it will look cooler and cooler as time goes on. I welcome anyone who wants to post comments to me on here.

During the trip I am hoping to be able to update this daily, but more likely it will be a few times a week. We'll see how it goes and how hard Internet access is. I might end up just writing in a word document and posting the entries when I have access. Doing this blog is important to me because I want to include everyone that has helped me achieve my $4000 goal that I needed to go on the trip. I want them to feel like they are experiencing the trip with me and be able to follow along.

I've been riding a fair amount; my legs are definitely already beefier and sore. The farthest I've gone is about 15 miles in one time, but every time I ride I go at least 12 miles. It's definitely saving me a lot on gas money!!

I'm going to try to get a map of the country so I can draw where I've gone and where I am, but I'm not sure how hard that will be, I'll keep you posted. Also expect to probably see some pictures up here.

The Deal!

Just so everyone knows here is the deal.

Sara DeCotis, my girlfriend, and I our going to ride our bikes from Providence, RI to Seattle, WA. It's about 3, 700 miles. We will be doing it in 9 weeks. To go we needed to raise $4,000 dollars that goes toward affordable housing. As we ride we stop once and awhile to help work on Habitat for Humanity projects. And the whole time we ride we are creating awareness about the desperate need for affordable housing in the U.S. and world. On my links on the left I am going to include some links to the Bike and Build site, including my trip roster, and my team list. Please look through this site and learn more about my cause and my incredible trip, it's almost guaranteed to be amazing.

For everyone who doesn't know the newest entry will be on the top of the window when you open it. Thanks.
