Boston

I'm in Boston and it's freezing cold out. But I love it here and I'm pretty sure at some point I'll be living here.

Peace

Election 2008

I usually don't right about politics in my blog, well I guess sometimes I do. But here is what I'm feeling about the 2008 Elections. First I'll state that I have done little to no research about the candidates or their views. Mainly because I feel it doesn't matter, they all campaign and take sides very close to, left and right of center. They do this understandably, to get the most votes. I also feel that what they say before an election and what actually happens after being elected are very far from the same. With all that said, I will do a lot of research this year before the election. Why? Because I think we "me being registered democratic" are screwed. I say this because in my opinion our two best bets don't have a chance. Most people vote based on party preference. I've heard stats that its almost 60% of people vote this way. I've also heard stats that things like hair amount, height, name have an effect on presidential elecability (Hillary=Short, Giuliani=Bald). Here is my theory, if things like that have an effect, then I think sadly that a woman has no chance. Hopefully, in the future they will have an equal chance, but I don't think they do yet. Our society is still too male dominated and men are too commonly associated with power.

The other democratic candidate is Baraka Obama, I'm sure you have all heard of him, and seen him. If most people don't do any research before heading to the polling station then why would they walk into a voting booth and vote for someone named Obama? I mean his name reminds me of a guy we are looking for who is hiding out in a cave. They vote for names they recognized and make them feel warm and cozy inside. Yeah, I'm saying in my opinion he has no chance because of his name. I wish I could say this isn't true but for a lot of America I think it is.

Lastly, I want to talk about Ron Paul, I know nothing about him except he has gained amazing popularity in a very short time. He is trying to raise $12 million before the 1st, and somehow his is well on his way. The thing that amazes me is the number of liberals that seem to really love this guy. And the number of my friends that have mentioned him to me. His problem is going to be the primaries, liberals can't vote for him and most republicans won't.

Lastly here are the stats from facebook vs ABC (non facebook) and how candidates are doing. Don't forget that most of facebook users are liberal college kids and people less then 30 years of age.

With all this being said, I'll go do some research, see who I might vote for, and maybe say something that isn't talking about of my butt. Feel free to leave comments about this post, nothing better then some heated political discussion.

Vote on!
