Turkey
Well, after a wonderful weekend with both families, with lots of eating. I purchased a gym membership, I'll let you know how that turns out. But it was really nice lifting again. Hopefully I'll be totally buff and huge in a few months. It's not as much as expected it's only about $20 a month. I start work on Wed. and I'll also let you know about that. I had a bunch of stuff to write on here but I forgot most of it. I'll post again soon.

Ithaca
Job status: everything is in line to apply for the executive director job which I will do as soon as they post the ad in the newspaper. Monday I took my first drug test for my job at Curtis Lumber. I passed with flying colors. They don't even send it out to a lab, you piss in a cup, they look at it and write the results down. Yea for chemistry! Anyway, other then that I have been reading the Chronicles of Narnia. I know they are children's books but at least I'm reading and the goal is to finish all seven before the movie The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe comes out in December. I'm already on book four so I'm in good shape!
This past weekend was Cortaca Jug, despite the close loss, it was an amazing time. It was the first time I've been back in Ithaca since graduation. It's hard to describe how wonderful it was to be back. I'm not sure if it was the overwhelming generosity and warmth of friends still there, the town it self, the atmosphere of Cortaca Jug, or the amazing weather. Most likely it was a little of each. After being away for such a long time and in the "real world" you realize how much of a bubble college really is, especially Ithaca. But you also realize the need for intellectual stimulation and continued learning. Having people around that you can safely throw ideas and thoughts around with and have them respond with their own. Anyway, it was an amazing experience being back and both Sara and I realized we need to keep Ithaca a part of us. We decided that in the late summer of 2007 we would have our wedding in the Farmers Market down near lake Cayuga. Ithaca is where we met and grew together, it's where we shared everything, it has become part of us each separately and as a whole. A finalized date will come with time.
As a last note, my advice to all my friends still in school....don't graduate. Hahaha.

Jobs!
Job searching isn't what I would call fun. But I can now say I have a job. $9.50/hr at
Curtis Lumber, 10 min from where I'm living. I'm going to be working in the
Curious Woods section. It's brand new and had lots of different exotic wood from all over the world. Pretty cool, better then working in the lumber yard. Anyway I'm full time, and they even pay for a pair of steel toed boots!! WOW! Despite it not being a huge career move, I'm going to be happy having steady money coming in.
In other job news, I'm applying to become an Executive director, yeah crazy. But here is the listing:
Not-for-profit Albany-based housing organization is seeking an executive director to provide professional and quality leadership. The organization, founded in 1982 has experienced considerable growth over the years and is now poised to increase its portfolio of properties. The executive director will be responsible for overseeing housing compliance, property management services, grant writing and funding-raising, and volunteer coordination. Ideal candidates will have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree, basic knowledge of housing construction, rehabilitation and financing, and general familiarity of rules and regulations for Federal Housing and Urban Development, State Division of Housing and Community Renewal, Office of Mental Health, and Office of Temporary Disability Services. Candidates must have excellent communication and management skills, as well as community and not-for-profit organizational experience. The executive director will report directly to the Board of Directors. Interested candidates meeting any or all of these qualifications are encouraged to apply.
The salary ranges from $35,000 to $45,000, and will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.Sweet huh? I doubt I have a chance, but I'm hoping. I am revamping my resume and am studying up on HUD policy. I know a lot about rehabbing apartments and I have Habitat experience so that might help me out, I'll keep you updated on what happens.
