Marshalltown, IA

Total Distance: 70.2 Miles
Ride Time: 5 hours 36 min
Avg. Speed: 12.9 mph (more on that later)
Max Speed: 27 mph

Bike: I decided to take Rt. 30 again with Sara, Quinnen and Shay. We knew it would be much shorter and probably easier. Well it was defiantely distance shorter but it took us all day to go 70 miles when we should have been able to do it in 3 to 4 hours. It took so long because the whole time there was a very strong, probably 20 mph, head wind. Now you wouldn't think it was bad if you were driving or even walking but a headwind is killer if your on a bike. Despite the wind the route was beautiful and we even found more rolling hills in Iowa. We finally arived in Marshaltown at around 4 pm and because we were on our own route we stopped at McDonalds for a pre dinner. Coming into the church was very exciting and we even had some time/engery to stop at a bike shop to pick up a few things. We then went down to the YMCA to ask about showers. Based on where I live I would assume that Y's are on a downward slope and slowly going under. But so far every one I've seen is amazing. Marshalltown's is nothing short of amazing, a huge pool with a water-park inside, it was a kids dream. Over all it was a fairly hard day because of the wind. The church was nice and had dinner all ready for us. After dinner a bunch of us went to the local bar for a relaxing drink. Good day.
Thanks for all the mail drops, they create so much happiness and joy. It's definitely a highlight of the week for most people.

Build: In two days we will have a build day in Ames, IA, sweet!

Ride on!
